Located in Tigard, Oregon, and serving the Portland area, VanderVeer Center utilizes this safe treatment to help enhance the look of your skin and minimize signs of aging. Our experienced team is standing by to help you find the right dermal filler option for your goals.

What Are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are among the most common nonsurgical cosmetic procedures performed in the United States. These safe, gel-like substances can be injected beneath the skin to fill areas where natural volume has been lost. They’re a cost-effective alternative to surgery, not to mention incredibly versatile. While dermal fillers are known for smoothing wrinkles, they can achieve a wide range of other benefits, including:

  • Defining and sculpting the jawline
  • Enhancing the chin with more projection
  • Adding extra volume to thin or thinning lips
  • Reshaping an uneven mouth profile
  • Correcting marionettes and parentheses
  • Softening facial creases, lines, and wrinkles
  • Enhancing the volume of sunken areas in the mid-face area
  • Restoring volume and structure to cheeks
  • Restoring volume and structure to the temples
  • Diminishing under-eye circles and tear troughs

Types of Dermal Fillers

At VanderVeer Center, we utilize a broad range of filler types and brands to better address the unique needs of each client. These include:

Hyaluronic Acid

The most common and popular fillers are made of hyaluronic acid (HA), a substance naturally found in the body to keep skin plump and hydrated. These fillers are soft and gel-like and provide temporary results, lasting for six to 24 months depending on how quickly the body naturally absorbs the gel. HA fillers at VanderVeer Center include:

      • Juvéderm products, including Ultra XC, Ultra Plus XC, Volbella, Voluma, and Vollure by Allergan
      • Restylane-L and Kysse by Galderma
      • Radiesse by Merz

Calcium Hydroxylapatite

Radiesse by Merz Aesthetics is composed of tiny particles of calcium hydroxylapatite, a material that naturally occurs in bone. These microscopic spheres are suspended in a smooth gel with a thicker consistency and longer-lasting results. Results from Radiesse last about 12 months for most patients.

What to Expect from the Process

When arriving at VanderVeer Center, one of our skilled medical providers will clean your skin and apply a topical numbing solution to reduce discomfort. Our fillers are also infused with lidocaine, a local anesthetic, to provide the most comfortable experience possible.

Treatment times vary depending on your individual needs and areas of concern. Most sessions take less than an hour, and clients can return to their daily activities immediately afterward. You may notice swelling for 48 to 72 hours after a Juvéderm or Restylane injection. Radiesse injection sites, meanwhile, may swell for three to seven days. Bruising is also a possibility in the immediate days after any dermal filler injection, and if you do bruise, we offer complementary laser treatment to help the bruise heal faster. Prolonged bruising and swelling should be addressed by our medical staff immediately.
