Photo rejuvenation is a series of light based treatments to revitalize and renew the skin resulting in a more youthful appearance. On the face, a photo treatment improves the appearance of Rosacea, sun damaged, and aged skin. It reduces age spots and fine lines, as well as redness and flushing.

VanderVeer Center's equipment is the best available to provide adjustable and effective penetration for improving the appearance of your skin. Our treatment utilizes second generation Intense Pulsed Light (I2PL). We are the only center in Oregon with this technology and one of only a few on the West Coast.

I2PL employs a treatment methodology called "selective photothermolysis," which targets specific chromophores in the epidermis. A chromophore is a chemical group that gives color to a molecule and is, therefore, capable of selective light absorption.

To perform effective treatments, wavelengths of light used need to correspond to the absorption spectrum for the target chromophore. Since the various wavelengths have different energies, light of a certain wavelength can travel only a certain distance into the skin; this is called the penetration depth.
